5 Geocaches have been placed on the Keose Glebe Estate for people to find, and for them to enjoy the scenery and views into the bargain!

Crofter Training 2
Another interesting and useful training session was held in the Estate Office on the 25th of August, and crofters from both Keose, Keose Glebe and elsewhere were in attendance. Once again, the training was led by Ian Cairns of Agrifood Technical Services, and topics included: Sheep, Brexit and planning for the future; Sheep, markets and values; The impact of Brexit on sheep industry; New ideas to make practical flock management simpler; and new ideas for improved profitability.

Keose & Glebe Community Walk
On the 19th of August, over 20 current and former Keose and Keose Glebe residents took a grand tour of the two villages, recounting and sharing history, annecdotes, development plans and ideas and more!
From the end of Keose Glebe, via Loch Keose, down to a lunch-stop at the meeting house, around the Ard Mhor and ending back at the Play Area, the group (both old and young) had a great time, and weren’t (too) hampered or deterred by access and bad weather!
A big thank you to Dorcas for her conceiving and organisation of the day, and hopefully this can be a regular event on the Keose social calendar
New Road Safety Sign
Some new Road Safety Signs have now gone up in the village, and we expect some more, together with additional road markings and linage, shortly.
Keose Glebe Noticeboard
The work on the village noticeboard has taken a step forward with the arrival of the centrepiece signage, and the creation of a flowerbed around its base.
This signage has two purposes – one as a village map and locator; and secondly as a space to advertise local businesses, services and funding providers.
Additional information panels and services will be installed soon.

Keose Glebe Pop-Up Garden
Work on the community garden beside the Meeting House has begun.
The grass is being cut, trees and bushes are being planted, and we hope to eventually have a path and seating area for people to come and view the harbour and village.
Land Management and Improvement
Ian Cairns will be back in the village this month, and this will give us an opportunity to discuss the findings of his Land Capability Study.
He will also provide a half day training session on Rushes/Croft/Land improvement.
The Land Capability Study discussion will be open to all Keose Glebe residents and crofters, and will take place at the Estate Office on Friday 23rd June at 7pm.
The Training Session will be open to anyone from Keose or Keose Glebe, and will take place at the Estate Office on Saturday 24th June from 10-2pm.

There be diggers!!
Work has now begun on the ground and drainage improvements at the Keose Community Playpark. This is preparatory work to improve the general playing area and to support the future siting of play equipment for which fundraising efforts are ongoing.
Any donations to this project are most welcome, and should be directed to Mrs Jan Gold at 8 Keose or Freddie Macleod at 6 Keose.
Tree Donation to Keose Glebe
Following the success of our tree-planting, a welcome further donation of around 100 trees (mostly sycamore) has been made to the community for planting locally.
These will now be planted in appropriate spots around the estate over the coming months.
Keose Glebe Volunteers in Action
A big thank you to all that took part, and that put in a full days shift on a warm, sunny day.
It was all very enjoyable and everyone worked very well together, making things a pleasure rather than a chore.
All that hard work ensured that a number of important jobs were carried out before the late afternoon downpour. These included:
- The cutting up and transportation of fencing strainers;
- Fencing around our 1st tree planting area, and the building of an access style;
- Tree husbandry (ensuring that all the trees were watered, growing happily, properly staked and protected);
- Two coats of Preservative Treatment being applied to the two Picnic Benches;
- The building of a temporary ramp up to the Storage Container;
- Some Grass cutting of the village verges; and the
- Walking of the proposed Keose Glebe/Keose boundary wall walk.
In addition the day gave an opportunity to test the new estate vehicle in practical operation. All present were very happy with how it performed.
A big thank you too to Ann Carmichael for her fantastic lunch provision and hospitality, to Donna for her drinks and snacks, to Louise for sticking with us, and to Douglas for giving up his time on a Saturday for a very wet walk in the rain.
